Even though SWAP is an unknown term for many, it is nothing more than an exchange of things between people. Anything from clothes, books and plants to furniture can be swapped.
As part of the European Sustainable Development Week, visitors can swap clothes for free in the CZU Canteen from September 18 to 22. The event will also include a small panel exhibition on the topic of sustainable fashion, where you will learn where and how the clothes we wear every day are produced, or why a third of all clothes are never even worn and where they end up.
Do you have nice clothes at home that you do not wear, but it would be a shame to throw them away? Or perhaps skinny jeans that you are trying in vain to lose weight for, or a multiple knitted scarf from your grandmother that you can no longer wear? If so, bring them to swap! There is more than enough textile waste in the world and someone else will surely like your clothes.
If you decide to visit our swap, we have a few tips for you:
- There will be a rack with hangers, so hang clothes on it, do not leave clothes in bags.
- Clothing should be clean and undamaged, or with only minor defects.
- Fashion accessories such as handbags, clutches, hats, or scarves are also welcome.
- If you like something but are not sure about the size, you can try on the clothes at home and return them by Friday, September 22 by 3 pm.
- Things that no one will take away will be sorted and handed over to the CZU Freeshop or donated to charities (attention, the purpose of the event is not a charity collection of clothes!).
